Empty leg flights to and from Doha

Doha is the capital of Qatar and the seat of a state whose gas wealth reaches far beyond the Gulf, from London property to a large stake in the parent company of British Airways, and the city hosts peace talks, summits and world sport. Visitors come for business and diplomacy above all, but also for the Museum of Islamic Art and the National Museum of Qatar, for Souq Waqif and for a calendar of events that runs from Formula 1 at Lusail to the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2027. A large cabin jet makes the trip from London in about six and a half hours, and Qatar keeps the same time all year, three hours ahead of Britain in winter and two in summer.

Private aircraft can use either of the city's two airports: Hamad International, the airline hub opened in 2014, or Doha International, the old airport 4.5 kilometres to the west, where Qatar Executive runs its FBO. The year 2026 has tested the region hard. Iranian missile attacks shut Qatari airspace from 28 February, airline schedules took weeks to recover, and there have been further strikes across the Gulf since July. Every quote we send takes account of the latest official advice and the operator's own assessment of the route.

Doha sectors on offer today

The list below shows every sector our operators have released into or out of Doha, whichever of its airports it uses. When Doha has nothing, the list widens to Bahrain and Dubai, about 40 minutes and an hour away by jet, because a sector released there and a short hop on to Qatar can still cost far less than a full charter from Britain. Under it is our table of regular routes at full charter prices, the benchmark for any sector that appears.

Ask us what is available at Doha right now.

This board refreshes through the day as operators release sectors, and it shows only part of the market: a large share of repositioning flights never reach a public list at all. Check back shortly, or tell us your route and dates and we will look at what operators are holding at this moment.

Both columns assume an aircraft already at the departure airport, so no positioning flight is billed. Where an operator has to fly one in to collect you, a charter can run considerably higher than the figure shown. Prices also run in both directions: an empty leg exists only when an operator is moving that aircraft anyway, so the sector you want may run the other way this month. Tell us the route and we will watch both directions for you.

Set up an alert for Doha

Most empty legs are gone within hours of being released, and a good number are never published at all. Tell us the route and the window you can travel in, and we will message you the moment a matching sector comes up between the UK and Doha.

Please fill in both the departure and the arrival city.

Why jets fly empty between Britain and Doha

Traffic between London and Doha rests on money, government and a crowded calendar of sport and summits, and much of it moves in one direction at a time.

Qatari money in London
Qatari state investors own Harrods and the Shard and hold a large share of Canary Wharf, and Qatar Airways owns about a quarter of IAG. Board meetings, ministers and investment teams keep jets moving between Doha and London through the year, and a jet that brings a delegation often goes home with an empty cabin.
Summer in Mayfair and Knightsbridge
When Doha passes 40 degrees, many Gulf families, Qatari among them, spend the summer in London. Their aircraft drop them in June or early July and fly home without passengers, then come back empty in late August to collect them before school starts, so southbound sectors bunch early in the summer and northbound ones at its end.
A season of sport and summits
From November to March Doha has the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix at Lusail, the Doha Forum, Web Summit Qatar, the February tennis tournaments and MotoGP, and in late 2026 the FIFA U-17 World Cup as well. Jets that bring guests for a race weekend or a conference seldom wait for them.
Qatar Executive and the Gulf fleets
Qatar Executive, the private jet arm of Qatar Airways, keeps a large Gulfstream fleet in Doha, and Gulf owners base many more big jets in the region. The legs that bring those aircraft home from Britain are the sectors most likely to reach our list.
A year of disruption
In 2026 the Iran conflict closed Qatari airspace, cancelled the Finalissima football match planned for Lusail in March and moved the MotoGP round from April to November, and the Qatar Economic Forum, normally held in May, was postponed. Demand now changes at short notice, and the empty sectors change with it.

The route prices below use six aircraft. The Global 6000, the Gulfstream G650 and G450, the Challenger 604 and the Praetor 600 fly between Britain and Doha without a stop in either direction. The Challenger 350, which has the shortest range of the six, is priced only on flights towards Doha: Qatar lies some 300 kilometres further from London than Riyadh, and on the way home into a winter headwind, with a full cabin and the present detour, it would often need a fuel stop.

Doha's two airports in detail

Doha International opened in 1959 and served as Qatar's airline airport until 27 May 2014, when all scheduled traffic moved to Hamad International, built partly on land reclaimed from the sea, about 4.5 kilometres to the east. Hamad has one terminal with five concourses, the newest two opened in February and March 2025, and it handled 54.3 million passengers in 2025, a record; Skytrax named it the world's best airport in 2021, 2022 and 2024. The old airport reopened to airlines for the 2022 World Cup and has since gone back to state, military and private flying.

Codes and location Hamad: DOH (IATA) and OTHH (ICAO), on the eastern edge of the city, about 16 kilometres by road from the West Bay towers. Doha International: DIA (IATA) and OTBD (ICAO), 4.5 kilometres to the west and closer to the old centre.
Runways Hamad has two parallel runways, 16L/34R of 4,850 metres and 16R/34L of 4,250 metres. Doha International has one, 15/33, of 4,570 metres.
Elevation 4 metres, or 13 feet, at Hamad and 11 metres, or 37 feet, at Doha International.
Hours and slots Both airports are open 24 hours, and both are airports of entry with customs and immigration around the clock. Hamad is slot coordinated, and flight planners report that slots are needed at Doha International as well, so the handler books them together with the landing permission.
Terminals Hamad has a single passenger terminal with Concourses A to E, a capacity of more than 65 million passengers a year since the 2025 expansion and an indoor tropical garden, The Orchard, opened in 2023. It also has an Amiri Terminal for heads of state and official guests.
Business aviation Qatar Executive's FBO is at Doha International and never closes. Business aircraft at Hamad use their own general aviation apron of nine stands, with Qatar Aviation Services as handler.
Landing permission Every private or charter flight needs permission from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority. Its published rules ask for charter requests at least 72 hours ahead, with the passenger details and a letter from the party receiving the flight in Qatar.
Customs and immigration Officers are on duty day and night at both airports, so a private party can be cleared whatever the arrival time.
Fuel Jet A1 at both airports.
Traffic 54.3 million passengers and 282,975 aircraft movements at Hamad in 2025, the busiest year in its history.
Metro The Red Line of the Doha Metro has served Hamad's terminal since December 2019 and reaches Msheireb, in the centre, in about 20 to 25 minutes.

For a crew, Doha is an easy destination: long runways, sea level and no curfew at either airport. Heat is the only real constraint. July afternoons average about 42 degrees, and a heavy jet leaving for Britain with full tanks needs a longer take off run in the afternoon, although with more than 4,000 metres of runway and almost no altitude it seldom has to limit its load. Late summer adds heavy humidity, and operators still like to plan summer departures for the evening.

Security is the other question in 2026. In June 2025 an Iranian strike on Al Udeid Air Base closed Qatari airspace for several hours. On 28 February 2026, the first day of the Iran war, Iran fired missiles and drones at Qatar, Qatar closed its airspace and Qatar Airways suspended its schedule; the first limited flights returned on 7 March through a protected corridor, and the attacks went on until the ceasefire of 8 April, including a strike on the Ras Laffan gas complex on 18 March. By September Hamad was operating normally, but the Foreign Office notes further Iranian strikes across the region, Qatar included, since 8 July and warns that airports and airspace can close at short notice. In September 2026 EASA told operators to avoid the Gulf waters of the Doha FIR other than to arrive or depart, and France asked its operators to exercise great caution. Such notices are extended or lifted as the situation changes, and we check the current ones before every flight.

Business aviation at Doha: Qatar Executive and the handlers

Private passengers in Doha are looked after from the moment the aircraft stops. The handler chosen by the operator meets it, takes the party through passport control and customs and brings the bags to the car.

Qatar Executive
Set up by Qatar Airways in 2009, Qatar Executive is the national airline's private aviation arm. It runs its FBO at Doha International around the clock, on the ramp with direct access to the neighbouring airside facilities, and works in coordination with Hamad. It also manages aircraft for owners and maintains them under the Qatar Airways Part 145 approval issued by the Qatari authority and EASA. Its own fleet of Gulfstream G700s and G650ERs, Bombardier Global 5000s and an Airbus ACJ319 is repositioned around the world as clients need it, and in April 2026 it took delivery of the tenth and last G700 of its order.
Inside the Premium Terminal
Qatar Airways calls the FBO the Premium Terminal, reusing the name of the terminal it opened at Doha International for first and business class passengers just before the 2006 Asian Games. The services it lists include passenger and baggage handling, customs and immigration, a crew lounge, aircraft catering coordination, air traffic and slot coordination, maintenance and a hangar. Its interior, redesigned in 2016, is a double height main hall divided into lounges with different levels of privacy.
Food and rest at the FBO
The terminal offers complimentary refreshments and wireless internet, and meals for the flight are arranged in advance through its catering coordination. For a longer wait there are day rooms for passengers and crews in transit, and the FBO can book hotels and limousines.
How the bags are handled
Baggage handling is part of the FBO service, and there is no check in desk or queue. On departure the handler takes the bags from the car, puts them through the terminal's checks and loads them; on arrival they come off the aircraft, pass customs and go straight to your car.
Doha International, the old airport
The airport that served Doha until 2014 is now home to the Amiri Flight, the air force, Gulf Helicopters and the Qatar Aeronautical College as well as to private jets. Its 4,570 metre runway takes any business aircraft; customs, immigration and health services work around the clock; and small aircraft are marshalled to their own stands. On 18 and 19 December 2022, after the World Cup final, 296 jets left from here.
Hamad and Qatar Aviation Services
At Hamad, Qatar Aviation Services, the ground handler of the Qatar Airways Group, looks after head of state and VIP flights, private fleets and executive charters. Business aircraft use the general aviation apron, and QAS runs a fleet of buggies inside the terminal for passengers on its VIP protocol list.
Which airport, and why
The operator and the handler decide which airport a flight uses, according to slots, parking and the aircraft. For the passenger the difference is small: both airports are about 20 minutes from West Bay and both clear private passengers at any hour.
The Amiri Terminal
Hamad's Amiri Terminal serves the Emir's flights, visiting heads of state and official delegations. It is not open to ordinary charters.
Checking in at Hamad by airline
If one of the party flies home by airline, Qatar Airways first class passengers check in at Row 1, at private seated desks with a concierge and bellhops, and business class at the 16 counters of Row 2; both then have their own passport control, electronic gates and security lanes. Check in opens three hours before departure and closes an hour before, porters are available for a fixed fee, and oversized bags go to the counters at the end of Rows 3 and 8.
Lounges for anyone flying by airline
The Al Safwa first class lounge has a 250 seat restaurant serving from an a la carte menu around the clock, 12 quiet rooms with their own bathrooms and a spa. The Al Mourjan business lounges include The Garden, opened in April 2023: 7,390 square metres with a main dining area, 24 quiet rooms, a spa and prayer rooms. First and business class passengers ending their journey in Doha have arrivals lounges with their own immigration desks, showers and a buffet.
Al Maha, the meet and assist service
On arrival, Al Maha staff meet Gold passengers in an arrivals lounge, where immigration is cleared, and Platinum passengers at the aircraft door with a name board, and a porter collects the bags from the baggage hall. Departing passengers are met in the hall and taken through check in and passport control, and the Platinum level adds up to six hours in an Al Maha lounge. The lounges have buffets, showers, quiet areas, work spaces and family rooms, and others can use them by paying at reception or with cards such as DragonPass; Priority Pass stopped covering them in May 2026.

On a private flight the lounge is usually a short stop between the car and the aircraft. It becomes useful when a slot or the weather delays a departure, on a Grand Prix weekend, when many aircraft arrive at Doha within hours of one another, and after an overnight flight, when the hotel room in West Bay is not yet ready.

Arriving in Doha, step by step

With the passenger details sent in advance, a private arrival in Doha is quick. These are the stages; leaving follows the same order in reverse.

ON THE APRON
The handler at the stairs
An agent from the handler meets the aircraft on its stand and walks you indoors, while the crew and the ramp team empty the hold.
VISA
Tourists: a waiver on arrival
A British citizen on a full passport visiting as a tourist receives a 30 day visa waiver on arrival. The Foreign Office says any other purpose, business included, needs a visa arranged in advance, so tell us why you are travelling and we will point you to the right one.
PASSPORTS
Six months to spare
Qatar wants half a year of validity left on each passport. Officers inspect it and issue the waiver inside the terminal.
CUSTOMS
Nothing to drink in the bags
Qatar customs will not admit alcohol under any condition, even from a duty free shop, and pork products, narcotics and vapes are banned as well. Declare cash, gold or gems worth more than 50,000 riyals.
MEDICINES
A permit five working days ahead
Since August 2026 controlled medicines need an electronic permit from the Ministry of Public Health, applied for at least five working days before travel. Narcotic medicines are limited to 10 days of treatment and psychotropic ones to 60 days.
BAGGAGE
Carried to your car
The handler unloads the bags and brings them through customs to your car. The two Challengers in our price list, the 350 and the 604, carry the least luggage of the six, so tell us early about golf clubs or bulky cases.
THE DRIVE
Twenty minutes to West Bay
From Hamad a car reaches West Bay or the Corniche in about 20 minutes and Msheireb in about 15; from Doha International, allow a little less. The Red Line of the metro also runs from Hamad's main terminal into the centre.
TIMING
Half an hour ahead
Reach the FBO roughly 30 minutes before take off. Both airports work through the night, so a late dinner in Doha need not delay the flight home, but the slot is booked, so tell the handler early if plans change.
FOOD AND DRINK
Catering ordered ahead
Order the meals for the flight when you book, so that the FBO can arrange the catering in advance. During Ramadan, eating and drinking in public in daylight is not allowed, so plan to eat on board or at your hotel.
DRESS
Shoulders and knees covered
Men and women are expected to cover their shoulders and knees, particularly in government buildings, hospitals and banks.
THE WEEK
A Friday and Saturday weekend
Government offices close on Friday and Saturday, so most business happens from Sunday to Thursday, and on Fridays the metro only starts running in the afternoon.
HEAT
Humid as well as hot
From June to August afternoons pass 40 degrees, with September not far behind, and in late summer the moisture off the Gulf makes the heat feel heavier. Carry medicines and laptops in the cabin, and ask the crew to cool the aircraft before you walk out to it.
ONE WAY BY AIRLINE
Qatar Airways or British Airways
Qatar Airways flies from Heathrow up to eight times a day this winter, with an A380 on some departures, and British Airways runs a daily Heathrow service.

Hold ups on a Doha trip rarely have anything to do with the airport. They come from a business visa left too late, a bottle left in a suitcase or a controlled medicine without its new permit, and each of these can be put right before departure.

Private aviation lounge for jet passengers in Doha

Five checks before a Doha trip

Passport and visa
Check that every passport runs for at least another six months, and arrange business visas before departure, since the arrival waiver covers tourism. Anyone staying longer than 30 days must also buy health insurance from a provider registered with the Ministry of Public Health.
Permission and slots
Qatar's aviation authority asks for charter requests at least 72 hours ahead, and the slots are booked at the same time. Passenger names and passport numbers should reach us as early as possible, and any change the moment it happens.
The new medicine permit
Apply through the Ministry of Public Health's online system with a prescription and a medical report in English or Arabic, both issued within the last six months, and carry the permit with the medicine.
Advice on the region
Look at the Foreign Office page for Qatar when you book and again the day before departure. Each quote we send confirms the routing and how the operator judges the region.
Nothing alcoholic in the luggage
Anything alcoholic found by customs is confiscated, including duty free bought on the way. Leave it on the aircraft or at home.

None of these is a problem if it is handled a few days ahead; any of them can cause a delay if it is left until the day of the flight.

Taxes and charges on a Doha trip

Qatar adds little in the way of tax, so the one sizeable levy on a trip from Britain is the British duty on the outbound flight, which depends on the weight of the aircraft.

Large jets
1,097 GBP a passenger, the band B higher rate, on any jet of 20 tonnes or more with seats for fewer than 19 passengers
Super midsize jets
The band B standard rate of 244 GBP a passenger for jets between 5.7 and 20 tonnes, until 31 March 2027
Belfast, the islands and Dublin
A direct flight from Northern Ireland pays no duty, and Jersey, Guernsey and Dublin are outside the scheme
In Qatar
No VAT on hotel bills or shopping, and the Qatari airport charges are part of the operator's price

Two of our six aircraft, the Challenger 350 and the Praetor 600, weigh under 20 tonnes, so their passengers still pay the standard rate on the way out. That ends on 1 April 2027, when every private jet from 5.7 tonnes upwards moves to the higher rate, 1,132.76 GBP a passenger in band B, and flights from Scotland move to Scotland's own Air Departure Tax. Qatar has no VAT at all, so there is nothing to reclaim on shopping at the airport, and the return flight carries only the Qatari airport charges, which the operator includes in its quote.

Other Gulf airports for a longer trip

Doha combines easily with the other Gulf capitals, all within about an hour and ten minutes by jet, and a sector released into one of them can be the cheaper way to reach Qatar.

Bahrain, BAH. Bahrain International, about 150 kilometres away and some 40 minutes by jet, one of the two places our list checks when Doha has no sector.
Dubai, DXB and DWC. About an hour away, with a large private aviation market at Dubai International and Al Maktoum.
Abu Dhabi, AUH and AZI. About 50 minutes by jet, with the Al Bateen executive airport in the city itself.
Riyadh, RUH. About an hour and ten minutes away. Air links between Qatar and Saudi Arabia have been open again since January 2021.

From the airports to West Bay, Lusail and the stadiums

Doha is compact by Gulf standards, and both airports sit on the eastern side of the city. The times below are off peak; the evening rush around West Bay can add 20 minutes.

Destination From Hamad by car What is there
Msheireb and Souq Waqif About 15 minutes The rebuilt old centre, the souq and, nearby, the Museum of Islamic Art
West Bay and the Corniche About 20 minutes Towers, ministries and the large hotels; also reached by the Red Line
Katara and The Pearl About 25 minutes The cultural village, marinas and island residences north of West Bay
Lusail About 30 minutes Lusail Stadium, the new city and, further north, the Lusail International Circuit
Education City and Al Rayyan About 30 minutes Qatar Foundation's universities and the Aspire Zone stadiums
Al Wakrah About 20 minutes Al Janoub Stadium and the beach resorts south of the airport
Ras Laffan About 1 hour The gas and industrial city on the north east coast

From Doha International the centre is a few minutes closer. The handler can book the car with the flight, which is worth doing on race weekends and during big conferences, and Karwa taxis and limousines wait outside Hamad's terminal.

Routes between the UK and Doha, and which way they run empty

The price shown is for the aircraft, not the seat, so it is the same for a single traveller or a full cabin. Chartered in the usual way, those jets cost around 2.4 times the empty leg fare, and the list of regular routes under the board shows the charter figure too. Times assume the usual line of flight; the present routing around closed airspace to the north adds roughly 200 to 300 kilometres, or 15 to 20 minutes.

Route In the air Empty leg from Season Which way it usually runs empty
London to Doha 6h 30m 37,700 GBP All year South in June and July after dropping families in London
Doha to Oxford 6h 35m 21,300 GBP Winter Home after bringing guests to a race or a summit
Farnborough to Doha 6h 35m 42,900 GBP All year Out empty to collect a delegation or a board
Doha to Biggin Hill 6h 30m 26,700 GBP Summer North in late August to fetch families for the new school year
Manchester to Doha 6h 45m 29,400 GBP Occasional Out empty to collect a party
Doha to Southampton 6h 35m 21,300 GBP Winter Home to the south coast after a drop
Birmingham to Doha 6h 40m 21,900 GBP Occasional Out empty to collect a business group

Edinburgh to Doha 6h 55m 40,100 GBP All year Out empty to collect energy and finance clients
Doha to Newcastle 6h 45m 29,400 GBP November Home after dropping guests for the Grand Prix
Glasgow to Doha 6h 55m 45,100 GBP Occasional Out empty to collect a party, a few times a year
Doha to Aberdeen 6h 50m 22,100 GBP All year Home to Aberdeen after gas and energy business
Belfast to Doha 7h 05m 41,000 GBP Occasional Out empty to collect a party; passengers from Belfast pay no duty
Doha to Liverpool 6h 45m 27,700 GBP Winter Home to Liverpool after a drop
Dublin to Doha 7h 00m 30,400 GBP Occasional Out empty to collect a party
Doha to Guernsey 6h 40m 21,600 GBP Occasional Home to Guernsey after a drop

London is where most Doha traffic starts and ends, so the widest choice of sectors appears there; from elsewhere in Britain, a London sector and a short domestic flight often cost less than a direct charter.

Entering Qatar from the UK

For a holiday, Qatar is easy to enter from Britain, but business visitors need a visa arranged in advance, and the customs rules are strict and apply in exactly the same way to private aircraft.

  • Visa. British citizens on a full passport visiting for tourism receive a 30 day visa waiver on arrival, which the Ministry of Interior can extend; the Foreign Office says a visa must be obtained in advance for any other purpose, and anyone staying more than 30 days must hold health insurance from a provider registered with the Ministry of Public Health.
  • Passport. At least half a year left before it expires, counted from arrival.
  • Banned imports. Alcohol, pork products, narcotics, weapons and vapes, with no exception for duty free purchases.
  • Medicines. The Ministry of Public Health lists 140 controlled medicines that need its electronic travel permit.
  • Money. Cash, precious metals or gems above 50,000 Qatari riyals in value go on a declaration form.
  • Conduct. Alcohol is served only in licensed venues and may not be drunk in public, photographing people without their consent can bring a heavy fine, and public displays of affection can lead to arrest.
  • Returning to Britain. Each adult may bring back free of duty 200 cigarettes, 18 litres of wine, 42 litres of beer, 4 litres of spirits and other goods worth up to 270 GBP when arriving by private aircraft; from 1 October 2026 sparkling wine is counted as wine and cider as beer.

Empty leg calendar for Doha, month by month

Doha's season runs from November to March, when the weather is mild and the big events take place, and the summer belongs to families travelling abroad. Each card shows how strong demand is that month and how many empty sectors to expect.

Demand
How strongly Doha draws travellers that month, through business, sport, religious holidays or the summer departures, and what that does to charter prices.
Empty legs
The number of Doha sectors we usually see in that month, and the direction most of them take.

January
SteadyStrong
Comfortable temperatures, and meetings resume after the holidays. Web Summit Qatar fills the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from 31 January to 3 February 2027, and jets sent to collect people who spent the New Year in Doha leave Britain empty early in the month.
February
BusyGood
The WTA and ATP tennis tournaments at the Khalifa complex are usually held in February, and National Sport Day falls on 9 February 2027. The fast of Ramadan is expected from about 8 February, with shorter office hours for the month.
March
BusyGood
Eid al Fitr, around 9 March 2027, closes the fast, and MotoGP is back at Lusail from 12 to 14 March 2027.
April
SteadyGood
The last month of pleasant weather before the heat, and a busy one for conferences and exhibitions.
May
SteadyStrong
In 2027 Eid al Adha is expected in mid May. The Qatar Economic Forum is normally held in May, although the 2026 edition was postponed.
June
QuietStrong
School holidays start and many Qatari families leave for Europe, London above all; once they are dropped, their aircraft fly home empty, so southbound sectors are plentiful.
July
QuietStrong
Temperatures peak, with afternoons averaging about 42 degrees, and southbound empty legs remain easy to come by.

Three situations in Doha, three answers

Board meetings in West Bay, back the next day
Six and a half hours each way is too long for one crew to fly out and back within a single duty day, so plan a night in Doha or ask for an augmented crew. Land in the morning, and West Bay is about 20 minutes from either airport; business visitors need their visas before they leave.
Grand Prix weekend at Lusail
Race weekends bring many aircraft into Doha within a few hours, and slots and parking go early. Book as soon as the date is confirmed, send the passport details a week ahead, and plan the flight home for the night after the race; both airports stay open, and sectors back to Britain are released as the jets leave.
Doha and then another Gulf capital
Bahrain, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh are all within about an hour and ten minutes, so the same aircraft can take you on and fly you home from there. Share the full plan when you first ask, because every country on the way issues its own landing permission.

Taking a dog or a cat to Doha

Qatar admits cats and dogs with an import permit from the Ministry of Municipality, which is generally valid for about a month and must be approved before departure. The animal needs an ISO microchip, a rabies vaccination given at least 30 days before travel and a health certificate endorsed in the country of departure, and visiting pets may also need a rabies antibody test, with a 90 day wait after the sample. More than a dozen dog breeds are banned, among them the Boxer, the Bulldog, the Doberman, the Great Dane and the Rottweiler, and arriving animals are inspected at Hamad's own facility, so agree with the handler how that will work for a private flight.

dog travelling on a private jet to Doha

The journey home takes longer to prepare. Qatar is not on Great Britain's list of approved countries for pets, so the animal needs a rabies blood test at least 30 days after vaccination, and three months must pass from the day of the sample before it can enter Great Britain. Before the flight home a vet in Qatar also issues a Great Britain health certificate and, for a dog, gives the tapeworm treatment between one and five days before landing, and only an operator approved to carry pets may fly the animal into Great Britain. Doing the blood test in Britain before you leave saves waiting in Doha at the end.

Private flights to Doha: questions from clients

Can we fly to Doha safely now?
Hamad is operating normally, and the Foreign Office, in advice last updated on 19 August 2026, does not advise against travel to Qatar. It does warn that Iranian attacks have hit targets around the Gulf, in Qatar too, since 8 July, and that flights can be stopped at short notice. We review the latest advice and the operator's risk assessment with you before confirming any flight.
Which Doha airport will we land at?
Either. Qatar Executive runs its FBO at Doha International, the old airport, and business aircraft also use a general aviation apron at Hamad; the operator and the handler choose according to slots and parking, and both airports clear passengers around the clock.
How many hours from London?
About six and a half hours from Luton in a Global 6000 on the usual line, a little longer from the regions or when flying home into the wind, plus 15 to 20 minutes while traffic avoids the airspace to the north.
Do we need a visa?
For a holiday, not in advance: British citizens on a full passport receive a 30 day waiver when they land, as long as the passport has at least six months left. For business or any other purpose, the Foreign Office says to get a visa before travelling, and we check which applies when you book.
Is alcohol allowed on the flight?
Qatar customs will not let any alcohol in, wherever it was bought. Ask the operator how it deals with the bar on a flight to Doha, and leave nothing alcoholic in your bags when you step off.
How cheap can an empty leg to Doha be?
Our lowest listed sectors, a Praetor 600 from Doha to Oxford or to Southampton, cost 21,300 GBP for the whole aircraft, against 50,700 GBP for a full charter on the same routes. Aircraft type, timing and the operator's wish to sell the sector decide the final figure.
Which British duty applies?
Only Air Passenger Duty on departure from Britain, at 244 GBP per passenger in a super midsize jet or 1,097 GBP in a large one until 31 March 2027; a direct flight from Belfast pays none.
And if no sector matches our dates?
Tell us where and when you want to fly and we will watch the market on your behalf. Sectors from the Gulf usually appear one to two weeks before they fly, and we get in touch as soon as one fits.

Call +44 7857 574938 , message the same number on WhatsApp , or write to flight@empty-leg.co.uk . Give us the number of passengers, your preferred British airport, your dates and how flexible they are, and we will come back with the Doha sectors that fit and the cost of a full charter with the landing permission, slots and handling included.
