Luxembourg is a small country with an outsized role in finance and in the European Union. Investment funds domiciled there held some 6,687 billion euros at the end of July 2026, and the Kirchberg plateau houses the Court of Justice of the EU, the European Investment Bank and the European Court of Auditors, while the Council of the EU holds its sessions in the city in April, June and October. Many private flights between Britain and Luxembourg are therefore business trips of a day or two, with weekends in the Moselle vineyards, family visits and National Day celebrations on top. The flight is short: about 500 kilometres from the London airports, or roughly seventy minutes in a light or midsize jet, and on landing the clocks move one hour forward.
Almost every private flight to the country lands at Luxembourg Airport at Findel, code LUX, about 7 kilometres east of the city centre. Business aircraft use the Business Aviation Center, a separate terminal about a kilometre from the airline halls, open every day from 06:00 to 22:00, where police and customs officers clear passengers in the building in about ten minutes.

Luxembourg sectors available today
The list below shows every sector we hold into or out of Luxembourg. When Luxembourg is quiet, it adds flights at Saarbrücken, Metz and Hahn, three airports in Germany and France within about an hour and a quarter of Luxembourg City by road. The second table puts a regular charter price on the same aircraft types for Luxembourg trips on dates of your own choosing, which shows at a glance how much a released sector saves.
Prices are for the whole aircraft and are shown in pounds. Some are indicative figures worked out from the distance and the class of jet; the firm price is confirmed with the operator when you send a request.

Both columns assume an aircraft already at the departure airport, so no positioning flight is billed. Where an operator has to fly one in to collect you, a charter can run considerably higher than the figure shown. Prices also run in both directions: an empty leg exists only when an operator is moving that aircraft anyway, so the sector you want may run the other way this month. Tell us the route and we will watch both directions for you.
Set up an alert for Luxembourg
Most empty legs are gone within hours of being released, and a good number are never published at all. Tell us the route and the window you can travel in, and we will message you the moment a matching sector comes up between the UK and Luxembourg.
Please fill in both the departure and the arrival city.
Nothing is stored on this site. The button opens a chat with the message already written, and you send it yourself. We reply during office hours, 07:00 to 23:00, and check messages outside them too.
Why jets fly empty between Britain and Luxembourg
Luxembourg's empty legs follow the rhythm of a financial and institutional capital: teams fly in for a board meeting, a fund launch or a hearing and fly out again within a day or two, and for longer stays the aircraft often leaves Findel in between. Five features of the Luxembourg market produce those sectors in both directions.
A fund centre with London ties
Luxembourg is the home of thousands of investment funds, many of them set up by asset managers based in London, and their boards meet in Kirchberg and the Cloche d'Or district several times a year. London City is the highest capacity route of Luxair, the national airline, and the same flow of directors, lawyers and auditors runs through private aviation, where each one way trip leaves an aircraft to reposition.
Jets based at Findel
Several operators and aircraft management groups keep their fleets at Luxembourg Airport, from single engine turboprops to long range jets. When one of these aircraft drops a Luxembourg client in London, it often heads straight home, and when it has to collect a client in Britain it crosses the Channel without passengers, so both of those flights can become empty legs.
EU sessions and hearings
The Council of the EU meets in Luxembourg in April, June and October, and the Court of Justice, the European Investment Bank and the European Court of Auditors bring lawyers, officials and bankers to Kirchberg all year. Delegations arrive over a day and leave together when the session or the hearing ends, so the jets that brought them often fly out empty on the day of arrival, and others come in empty to collect them at the close.
The night closure
Findel is closed to traffic from 23:00 to 06:00 local time, and the Business Aviation Center works from 06:00 to 22:00. An aircraft that lands with passengers in the evening has to leave before the closure or stay the night, and when the operator needs it elsewhere the next morning, the late flight out becomes an empty leg.
Parking and no hangar space
Business aircraft park on an open apron, and the standard stay there is 72 hours; a longer stay has to be notified, and the airport can ask for the aircraft to be moved. With no hangar space for visiting aircraft, an operator whose clients stay several days usually sends the jet home and brings it back for the return, and both flights can be offered.
Sectors are released in every season; May, June, September and October bring the largest numbers, driven by conferences, Council meetings and bank holiday weekends. With so many aircraft based at Findel, the sectors from Britain towards Luxembourg often come up at short notice, once a jet has dropped its passengers in the UK and needs to return.
Luxembourg Airport at Findel in detail
Luxembourg Airport is run by the Société de l'Aéroport de Luxembourg. It handled 5.36 million passengers in 2025, a record for the airport, and it is the home base of Cargolux, one of the large all cargo airlines of Europe, so wide body freighters share the runway with airliners and business jets. Airline passengers use Terminal A, opened in 2008, and the smaller Terminal B; private flights have their own building and apron, the Business Aviation Center, which opened on 1 February 2008.

For a crew, Findel is a simple airport: one long runway with instrument approaches, fuel and handling on the spot and a short taxi to the business aviation apron. What needs planning is the clock and the weather. A return in the evening is timed to leave well before the closure at 23:00, a stay of more than three days is announced in advance, and on autumn and winter mornings, when the plateau at 376 metres is prone to fog, the timetable allows a margin and the handler books de icing for an aircraft that has stood outside overnight.
The night closure and the 72 hour rule at Findel
Three rules decide when and for how long a private jet can use Luxembourg Airport. We check each of them at the moment of booking, so the day of travel brings no surprises.
Closed from 23:00 to 06:00
A Grand Ducal regulation of 24 May 1998 closes the airport to traffic every night from 23:00 to 06:00 local time. The exceptions are narrow: government flights, search and rescue, humanitarian and hospital flights, aircraft in distress, delayed scheduled services and some late movements of aircraft based at Findel. A visiting private jet on an ordinary trip normally has no such exemption.
The terminal day, 06:00 to 22:00
The Business Aviation Center, with its police, customs and handling staff, works from 06:00 to 22:00. In practice an early departure from Luxembourg leaves at about 06:30, and an evening return is planned inside the terminal's hours. An extension for a particular flight can be requested, within the limit of the airport closure at 23:00, and we ask for it when the flight is booked rather than on the day.
Three days on the apron
Visiting business aircraft park on an open apron, where the standard stay is 72 hours. A longer stay has to be announced to the airport, which can ask for the aircraft to be moved, and there is no hangar for visiting aircraft, so on a long trip the operator often prefers to send the jet home.
Evening sectors deserve particular attention. An empty leg leaving Findel in the evening has been planned by the operator around the closure, yet any shift in its schedule can push it past the limit, so we recheck the departure time twenty four hours ahead and pass on any change immediately.
The Business Aviation Center, VIP services, the lounge and restaurants
Private passengers at Findel do not normally set foot in the airline terminal. The Business Aviation Center stands apart from Terminals A and B, with free parking at its door and the business aviation apron in front of it, and its staff deal with the border, customs, screening and baggage for every private flight. Terminal A matters to a private traveller mainly for a meal before the flight or when one direction of the trip is on an airline.
The building and its hours
The Business Aviation Center is the only terminal for private flights in Luxembourg: a building of about 450 square metres, opened on 1 February 2008, about a kilometre from Terminal A and 7 kilometres from the city centre. It is open every day from 06:00 to 22:00, extensions for an individual flight can be requested, and it handles aircraft of every size up to a Boeing 747; cars park free of charge in front of it.
Border, customs and screening
Police, customs and security staff work on the premises, so the checks take place without leaving the terminal. For a flight from Britain the passport and customs formalities usually take about ten minutes, and departing passengers and their hand luggage are screened in the terminal with only their own party present.
Waiting in the private terminal
Passengers wait in the VIP lounge of the Business Aviation Center, where international newspapers are available on request, and the staff drive them across the apron to the aircraft when it is ready. The terminal is compact and made for short stays rather than long waits: its list of services includes no restaurant, shop or shower, so most passengers arrive shortly before departure and eat in the city or on board.
Baggage without a check in desk
There is no check in counter and no baggage belt. On departure the suitcases are taken from the car, screened in the terminal together with their owners and loaded into the hold by the handling team; on arrival they are unloaded at the aircraft and brought to the car. Space in the hold of a light jet is limited, so tell the operator at booking about golf bags, skis, a pushchair or a few cases of Moselle wine, and they will be loaded without trouble.
Crews and aircraft
Crews have a lounge of their own with wireless internet, television and refreshments, and the terminal arranges their transport on the apron. The same team coordinates the compulsory handling, fuel, de icing and parking, and repair and maintenance facilities are available on the airport if the aircraft needs attention between flights.
Catering, cars and hotels
The Business Aviation Center orders in flight catering, books limousines and other transport, and reserves hotel rooms. Meals for the flight are ordered at least a day ahead, and a table in one of the restaurants of Kirchberg or the Ville Haute, ten to fifteen minutes away, suits a proper dinner before an evening departure.
A meal at the airport
For lunch at the airport itself, the Café by Oberweis on level 1 of Terminal A, in the public area open to everyone, is a panoramic restaurant with large windows over the airfield. It serves a meat dish and a fish dish of the day, burgers and pastries, and the Luxembourg classic bouchée à la reine; beside it, the Comptoir du Bon Pays is a self service restaurant with a daily menu and a salad and dessert bar. The restaurant opens at 09:00 and closes at 18:00 from Monday to Thursday, at 20:00 on Fridays and at 15:00 on Saturdays, while on Sundays it is open from 11:00 to 18:00, and a bill of 50 euros or more comes with two hours of free parking.
The airport's VIP welcome
For guests who arrive or leave on an airline flight, the airport company offers its own VIP welcome, with multilingual staff who meet the guest and look after them through the airport. It is booked directly with the airport by email, and it is the natural choice when only one direction of a trip is private.
The business lounge in Terminal A
Run by Luxair, the business lounge lies just after the security checks in Terminal A, in a bright room with windows onto the runway, and it opens from 04:00 to 21:00 on weekdays and Sundays and from 04:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays. The buffet offers smoked salmon, cold meats, cheese, fruit and pastries, with eggs and bacon in the morning, alongside Luxembourg wines, crémant, beer and spirits, free wireless internet and the papers; there are no showers, and at busy times of day it fills up. Luxair business class passengers and Miles & More HON Circle and Senator members enter free, Priority Pass members are admitted on their membership, and passengers on Luxair Flex and Smart fares can add access for 39 and 49 euros respectively, or 22 euros for a child.
After security in Terminal A
Airline passengers can eat and drink at Moselier and Panopolis in the Schengen area of Terminal A, while flights to London leave from the non Schengen area, where the Petit Moselier is the place for a drink or a bite before boarding. The duty free shop after security stocks Luxembourg crémant, a sparkling wine made by the traditional method from Moselle grapes. A Fast Lane through security, next to check in counter 26, is open only to passengers whose boarding pass shows it, and it is sold by airlines with the ticket, not at the terminal.
Business aviation at Findel
Several business aviation companies are based at the airport, from turboprop fleets to long range jets. The Ministry of Mobility counted 13,015 take offs and landings of business aircraft in 2022, against 11,157 in 2019, and in September 2026 it confirmed that no specific rule restricts these flights by the distance flown. Whoever operates your aircraft, the formalities for passengers take place at the Business Aviation Center.
The private terminal, the airport's VIP welcome, the business lounge and the panoramic restaurant each serve a different traveller, keep different hours and are paid for in a different way.

Handling at Findel is compulsory and coordinated by the Business Aviation Center, so the operator arranges it with the aircraft; any request for the VIP welcome, a particular car or a meal on board is best made when the flight is booked.
From the aircraft to your car at Findel, step by step
From the aircraft steps to the car door, a landing at the Business Aviation Center usually takes a quarter of an hour, and leaving follows the same path the other way.
PARKING
Greeted on the apron
The jet stops on the business aviation apron facing the terminal building. A member of the ground staff greets you as the door opens, and your bags are unloaded while you cross to the building by car or on foot.
PASSPORTS
A police desk in the building
Britain lies outside Schengen, so the Grand Ducal Police inspect each passport on arrival. Travellers entering Schengen for the first time since the Entry/Exit System started have their face photographed and, if aged twelve or over, four fingerprints scanned, all at a desk inside the Business Aviation Center.
DUTY
Customs a few steps away
Luxembourg customs officers have their post in the same terminal. Goods over the duty free limits and the health certificate of any animal on board are shown to them there, with the handling staff preparing the paperwork.
BAGS
Straight to the boot
On arrival the suitcases go from the hold to the boot of your car; on the way home the handling team takes them at the kerb and loads them after screening, so you carry nothing but your hand luggage.
SCREENING
No queue behind you
Before departure everyone in the party and their cabin bags pass the usual security check, which at the Business Aviation Center involves nobody but your group and is quickly done.
WAITING
A seat in the lounge
Should the crew need a few more minutes, passengers sit in the VIP lounge of the terminal, with international newspapers on request, while pilots use a separate crew room.
CATERING
Your menu on board
Give your order for onboard dining at least 24 hours before take off, whether that means local specialities or dishes you choose yourself. For a sit down meal on the ground, choose between the panoramic restaurant in Terminal A and the restaurants in town, a quarter of an hour's drive away.
TRANSPORT
Free parking outside
Parking in front of the Business Aviation Center costs nothing, and the staff can reserve a chauffeured saloon or a minibus. A taxi into the city runs to roughly 30 to 40 euros; a pre booked driver saves the wait when there are several suitcases.
TIMING
Half an hour is enough
For the flight back to Britain, reaching the Business Aviation Center 30 minutes ahead of departure leaves plenty of room, because the exit passport check and screening normally take around ten minutes.
EVENINGS
Before the doors close
With the terminal shutting at 22:00 and the runway at 23:00, a return after dinner is scheduled with time in hand and reconfirmed the previous day.
VAT REFUND
Forms stamped on the way out
Residents of countries outside the EU may recover Luxembourg VAT once a single invoice reaches 74 euros, provided the purchases leave the EU within 90 days. The customs stamp is needed before take off, so warn the handler and keep receipts and goods accessible; the money goes back to a card rather than in cash.
ONE WAY BY AIRLINE
Using Terminal A
When one leg is on a scheduled flight, the airport's VIP welcome or the business lounge past security in Terminal A makes the wait easier. London flights depart from the non Schengen gates, which means an exit passport check to allow for.
Landing time, days on the apron, the driver and the meals on board are settled before departure, all within the same booking as the aircraft.
Five points to settle before a Luxembourg trip
Any of the five can move the schedule or the cost of a Luxembourg trip, which is why every quote we send addresses them from the start.
Dinner or a late take off
With the private terminal shut from 22:00 and the runway from 23:00, a farewell dinner in the Ville Haute usually means flying home the next morning.
Trips of four days or more
A same day return lets the jet sit on the apron until you are back. Past 72 hours the airport needs notice and may relocate the aircraft, so operators often choose to fly it back to base and return for you, creating two one way flights and frequently an empty sector each way.
Winter mornings
Between October and March, dawn fog and frost are common on the Findel plateau. The aircraft is de iced where it stands, by arrangement with the handling team, and early winter departures are given a little extra time.
The rush hours
More than 230,000 people cross into Luxembourg from France, Belgium and Germany to work each day, and the roads around the city fill between about 07:00 and 09:30 and again in the late afternoon. A meeting in Kirchberg ten minutes from the airport can take three times as long at those hours, so we time landings around them.
Pounds for the jet, euros on the ground
The aircraft price is in sterling, while drivers, hotels and airport extras in Luxembourg bill in euros; payment cards work nearly everywhere in the country.
From Findel to the city, the Moselle and beyond
The airport sits just outside the city, so most addresses in Luxembourg are a short drive from the Business Aviation Center, and the country is small enough that its far corners are about an hour away. Each driving time assumes a chauffeured car in free flowing traffic, and at rush hour it can grow two or three times longer.

What a Luxembourg trip adds to the bill
A flight to Luxembourg carries fewer extra charges than a flight to France or Germany: British duty on the way out, the airport and handling fees inside the operator's price, and no departure tax added by Luxembourg for the flight itself.
UK duty
Air Passenger Duty on the flight out of Britain, Band A, for aircraft of 5.7 tonnes or more
Luxembourg passenger tax
none: Luxembourg adds no departure or passenger tax to the ticket
Hotel VAT
3 per cent, the reduced rate on accommodation, already included in the room price
Airport and handling
landing, parking, handling, navigation and terminal charges, all inside the operator's quote
Air Passenger Duty is charged only when the flight leaves the UK, and Luxembourg, about 310 miles from London, falls in Band A. Until 31 March 2027 each passenger pays 32 GBP on a private jet of 5.7 to 20 tonnes and 142 GBP above 20 tonnes; after that date one rate of 146.63 GBP applies to all private jets from 5.7 tonnes up. Lighter aircraft such as a Citation M2 or a Pilatus PC-12 pay no duty at all, flights from Jersey and Guernsey are outside it, and from April 2027 flights leaving Scotland pay the Scottish Air Departure Tax instead, with a separate Scottish tax on private jets planned from April 2028.
Luxembourg levies nothing on the passenger for the flight; in September 2026 the Ministry of Mobility said that no specific rule restricts private flights by distance and made no commitment to tax them. The airport's landing, passenger, parking and terminal navigation charges and the fee for the compulsory handling are all real costs, but they are already included in the price we quote for the charter or the empty leg. Hotel rooms carry VAT at the reduced rate of 3 per cent, which hotels include in the price they quote.

Saarbrücken, Metz, Hahn and the other airfields around Luxembourg
Findel is the right airport for nearly every private trip to Luxembourg, since no other airfield in the Grand Duchy takes business jets. Across the borders, five airfields can serve a trip when Findel is closed for the night or when the journey continues into the region.
Luxembourg Findel, ELLX. The airport of the Grand Duchy, 7 kilometres from the centre, with a runway of 4,002 metres, the Business Aviation Center, a stay of 72 hours on the apron as standard and no movements between 23:00 and 06:00.
Saarbrücken, EDDR. Saarbrücken's airport serves the German Saarland, lies 80 kilometres south east of Findel as the crow flies, and has customs and a 2,000 metre runway. It suits a trip to Saarbrücken itself, and the drive to Luxembourg City takes a little over an hour.
Metz Nancy Lorraine, LFJL. In France, 71 kilometres south of Findel, between Metz and Nancy, with a runway of 3,050 metres. It serves Lorraine, and Luxembourg is about an hour away by the A31 motorway.
Frankfurt Hahn, EDFH. A former military base in the Hunsrück hills of Germany, 84 kilometres east of Findel, with a runway of 3,800 metres and a modest airline schedule. Luxembourg is about an hour and a quarter away by road.
Trier Föhren, EDRT. A small airfield 12 kilometres north east of Trier, 50 kilometres from Findel, licensed for aircraft of up to 15 tonnes and used for business flights to the Moselle and Trier.
Liège, EBLG. A large cargo airport in Belgium, 125 kilometres north west of Findel, with a runway of 3,690 metres; Luxembourg is about an hour and a half away by the E25.
Popular routes between the UK and Luxembourg, and which way they run empty
Each figure is the price of the entire aircraft on a sector that would otherwise run with no one on board, whether two seats are filled or all of them; times shown are flight times. London and Findel are about 500 kilometres apart, a short hop for every aircraft on the list, from a Pilatus PC-12 turboprop on the Southampton route, a little slower than the jets, to a Challenger 350 for the larger parties. For fixed dates, the Luxembourg charter price list gives the standard fare for each of these aircraft.

Business travel shapes the pattern: many trips start on a Monday or Tuesday and end by Thursday, so empty sectors between Britain and Luxembourg appear most often at the beginning and end of the working week. Jets with a home base at Findel create sectors in the other direction throughout the year, each time they leave clients in Britain and fly back empty.
Online calculator
If you want to see what your route would cost as a standard charter, so you have something to measure an empty leg against, use the calculator below. Fill in the airports, the dates and the number of passengers, add any preference on aircraft type, and we will send a written calculation by email or messenger. Please check your contact details carefully so that we can reply quickly.
The figure the calculator returns is an estimate for planning. The firm quote comes back from our consultants with the cost broken out line by line, and the price agreed there is the price written into the contract.
If you would rather skip the arithmetic, send us the route and the dates instead and a consultant will come back with both numbers, the charter price and any empty leg that fits.
Entering Luxembourg: passports, customs and tax free
Luxembourg belongs to the EU and to Schengen, and its village of Schengen on the Moselle gave the agreement its name, while Britain belongs to neither. A private flight from the UK to Findel therefore crosses the external border of Schengen, and the police and customs check it at the Business Aviation Center.
Passport. It must have been issued within the last ten years and stay valid for at least three months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area; a document that falls short of either condition can mean refusal at Findel.
The 90 day rule. Holders of British passports can spend up to 90 days in every rolling 180 day period in Schengen visa free, and a night in Luxembourg uses the same allowance as a night in Paris, Brussels or Berlin.
Entry/Exit System. The digital record that replaced passport stamps has been fully in use since April 2026: on the first entry the police photograph each traveller and, from the age of twelve, take four fingerprints.
ETIAS. The travel authorisation for visitors without a visa is not yet required. Its start was put back in July 2026 to a date in 2027 that has not been fixed, and once it starts every visitor will need one, valid for three years, with a fee of 20 euros charged only to those aged 18 to 70.
Customs. Each adult arriving from the UK may bring into Luxembourg, free of duty, goods worth up to 430 euros, 200 cigarettes, a litre of spirits or 2 litres of drinks up to 22 per cent, 4 litres of still wine and 16 litres of beer. Anyone carrying 10,000 euros or more in cash or equivalent instruments has to declare it on arrival.
Food from Britain. A ham sandwich or a piece of British cheese packed for the flight counts as meat or dairy from outside the EU, and it cannot be brought in.
Tax free. Visitors who live outside the EU can reclaim VAT on purchases of at least 74 euros on one invoice, if the goods leave the EU within 90 days and customs stamp the forms on departure; the refund is paid to a card.
Coming home. The return to a British airfield on a private aircraft comes with a personal duty free limit for each adult of 200 cigarettes, 42 litres of beer, 18 litres of wine, 4 litres of spirits or alternatively 9 litres of fortified wine, plus 270 GBP of other goods. From 1 October 2026 sparkling wine counts towards the wine limit and cider towards the beer limit, so a party can still bring home a few cases of Moselle crémant between them.
Empty leg calendar for Luxembourg, month by month
Luxembourg is a working capital first, so its busiest months follow the business and EU calendars rather than the beach season, with long weekends and festivals adding their own peaks.

Three situations, three answers
A day of meetings in Kirchberg
A 07:00 departure from Farnborough reaches Findel at around 09:10 Luxembourg time, and Kirchberg is ten minutes by car. Wheels up at 18:30 local puts you back in Farnborough at roughly 18:40 UK time, in time for dinner at home. The economy lies in the outbound: a Luxembourg based jet returning from Britain carries you out in the morning, and a separate charter brings you back.
A weekend on the Moselle or in the Mullerthal
For a weekend of wine tasting on the Moselle or walking in the Mullerthal, the operator often flies the aircraft home after the Friday drop and sends it back for Sunday rather than leave it idle at Findel for two days. Each of those positioning flights may be listed with us, and we pass them on the moment the operator makes them available.
Onward to Trier, Metz or the Alps
Trier and Metz are less than an hour away by car, so a single landing at Findel covers a trip across three countries. When the journey continues to Geneva or the Alps, keep the aircraft for the next hop: Geneva is about an hour away by light jet, and the return to Britain can start from there.
Flying to Luxembourg with a dog or a cat
To enter Luxembourg from Britain, a dog, cat or ferret must be microchipped, vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days before travel and accompanied by an animal health certificate that an official vet signed within the ten days before arrival; customs inspect the papers at the Business Aviation Center. British pet passports are not accepted, and since 22 April 2026 an EU pet passport is no longer accepted for entry into the EU with a pet living in Great Britain, so each journey needs a fresh certificate. No blood test or worming is demanded for entry, and an owner may bring as many as five animals. Mention the animal in your first enquiry so the ground team can have customs ready when you land.
Coming back is more demanding. Only an operator on the UK government's approved list may fly the pet into Britain, and a dog must be treated for tapeworm by a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing, with the treatment written up. Arrange that visit with a vet in Luxembourg near the end of your stay and carry the record, and we will contact only operators cleared to carry animals.

Luxembourg by private jet: questions from British travellers
Which airport does a private jet use for Luxembourg?
Luxembourg Airport at Findel, the international airport of the Grand Duchy, with its own Business Aviation Center and the centre of the city fifteen minutes away. Saarbrücken, Metz and Hahn, across the borders, are the alternatives for trips into the wider region.
How many hours does the flight to Luxembourg take?
About 1h 10m from London, Farnborough and Biggin Hill, 1h 15m from Oxford, 1h 20m from Bristol, Birmingham and Jersey, 1h 25m from Manchester, Leeds and Cardiff, 1h 30m from Liverpool and from Southampton in a Pilatus PC-12, 1h 35m from Newcastle, 1h 45m from Edinburgh and Dublin and 1h 50m from Glasgow, Aberdeen and Belfast.
Can I land at Findel at night?
Not between 23:00 and 06:00, when the airport is closed to ordinary private flights; only state, rescue, medical and emergency flights, delayed scheduled services and some movements of locally based aircraft are exempt. The Business Aviation Center itself works from 06:00 to 22:00, so private flights are planned inside those hours, and an extension for a particular flight can be requested up to the closure.
How long can the aircraft wait for me at Findel?
Up to 72 hours on the business aviation apron as standard. Beyond that the airport must be informed and may request a move to another stand, which is why longer visits are often flown as two separate sectors.
What does an empty leg to Luxembourg cost?
The cheapest sectors in our route table start at about 2,000 GBP for Luxembourg to Southampton in a Pilatus PC-12 and about 2,200 GBP for Luxembourg to Biggin Hill in a Citation M2, the price covering the whole aircraft. A full charter on your own dates ranges from 4,800 GBP on the least expensive of the eighteen routes to 15,700 GBP on the most expensive.
Is there a Luxembourg tax on private flights?
No. Luxembourg adds no passenger or departure tax; the only duty is British Air Passenger Duty on the flight out of the UK, and the airport and handling charges are included in the quote. Hotel bills include VAT at the reduced accommodation rate of 3 per cent.
Is there a VIP service at Luxembourg Airport?
Private passengers use the Business Aviation Center, with police and customs in the building and a VIP lounge. Guests flying by airline can book the airport's own VIP welcome, and airline passengers with lounge access use the business lounge past security in Terminal A.
Do British visitors need a visa for Luxembourg?
No. British citizens travel visa free for business or pleasure, within the Schengen limit of 90 days per 180; the first crossing registers you in the Entry/Exit System, and ETIAS has not yet come into force.
And if nothing is released for my dates?
Send us a range of dates, the number of travellers and your preferred UK departure airport. Jets from Findel visit Britain often, so a suitable sector may turn up at short notice, and meanwhile we prepare a charter quote that already respects the airport's hours.
Call +44 7857 574938 , message the same number on WhatsApp , or write to flight@empty-leg.co.uk . Tell us when you want to travel, the number of passengers, any large items of luggage and where in Luxembourg you need to be. Our answer sets any suitable empty legs against the charter fare, and a single booking takes care of the aircraft, the handling at Findel, the parking time and your driver.
