These terms apply when you ask us to arrange a flight and when you book one. They sit alongside the charter brokerage contract you sign before payment, and alongside the operator's own conditions of carriage. Where the signed contract and this page differ, the signed contract prevails. Last reviewed September 2026.
This website is operated by Empty Leg UK Ltd, registered in England under number 10797217, registered office Percival Way, London Luton Airport, Luton LU2 9PA. Air charter brokerage contracts are entered into with Empty Leg CY, registration number HE 496460, Krinou 3, Agios Athanasios, Lemesos 4103, Cyprus. Together we are referred to below as Empty Leg UK. The contracting company is named in your quote and in your contract before you pay anything.
We are an air charter broker. We act as your agent in arranging a flight with a third party operator that holds its own Air Operator Certificate issued by the UK Civil Aviation Authority or by EASA.
We do not own, operate, maintain or crew aircraft. We are not an airline, and we are not a contracting or actual carrier. The contract of carriage is between you and the operator, on that operator's conditions, and the operator is responsible for the aircraft, the crew and the conduct of the flight. We will name the operator to you before you book so that you can verify it.
Prices shown on this website, including empty leg schedules and price tables, are indicative and are not an offer to contract. Empty leg sectors in particular change through the day and one shown here may already have been taken.
A quote given to you in writing by a consultant is valid only for the period stated in it and remains subject to the aircraft still being available when you accept it. Nothing is reserved until a contract is signed.
Cancellation charges are set by the operator flying the aircraft and are stated in your contract before you pay. They differ between operators, so the same route on two different aircraft can carry two different schedules. We will always put the exact wording in front of you before you commit, and we will try to move a flight rather than cancel it where the operator allows.
Our own brokerage fee is dealt with separately from the operator's charges. Where a booking is cancelled by you, we will normally refund half of our fee, and we will consider the individual circumstances before deciding. The operator's own charges are outside our control.
An empty leg exists because of another booking. If the charter that created that sector is moved or cancelled by its own client, the empty leg goes with it. This is uncommon but it is a real feature of the product and you should not book one to reach something you cannot miss.
If a sector is withdrawn after you have paid, you receive a full refund of everything you have paid, including our fee. We will tell you as soon as the operator tells us and put alternatives in front of you the same day. We are not liable for consequential costs such as hotels, onward tickets or missed appointments, so where a trip depends on a fixed arrival we will recommend a standard charter instead.
Departure times can move for reasons outside anyone's control, including weather, air traffic restrictions, airport slots, crew duty limits and technical issues with the aircraft. The operator may also substitute an aircraft of equivalent or better specification. We will tell you as soon as we know and work with the operator on the alternatives.
Where you ask us about hotels, villas, cars, yachts or event tickets, we simply pass on the contact details of providers we know. We do not book those services, we do not take payment for them, and we receive no commission from them. Any arrangement you make is directly between you and that provider.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected, including the right to expect a service performed with reasonable care and skill.
Subject to that, we are responsible for the brokerage service we provide to you and not for the carriage itself. Claims relating to the flight, the aircraft, the crew or the conduct of the operator lie against the operator under the contract of carriage and the applicable international conventions. We will support you in bringing such a claim.
We are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when your booking was made, or for business losses such as loss of profit, revenue or opportunity where you are contracting as a business.
The operator carries the insurance required of a certificated air operator. That cover does not extend to your personal circumstances, so we recommend that you arrange your own travel insurance, particularly for trips where a cancellation would leave you out of pocket.
We process personal information in accordance with our privacy policy, which explains what we collect, who we share it with and how long we keep it.
If something goes wrong, write to complaints@empty-leg.co.uk. Our complaints procedure sets out the stages and the timescales we work to. Raising a complaint does not affect any booking you hold with us.
We may update these terms. The version published here when you make an enquiry is the version that applies to it, and the terms in your signed contract are not changed by any later update to this page.
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also bring proceedings where you live.
