Private jet prices from UK airports

There are two prices for any private flight. One is what the aircraft costs when you choose the date, the airports and the hour. The other is what the same aircraft costs when it is already flying that sector empty and the operator would rather sell it than fly it with nobody on board. This page sets out both, side by side, in pounds, for departures from British airports.

Everything below is priced for the whole aircraft rather than a seat. That single fact decides most of the arithmetic: a light jet at 2,600 GBP is 2,600 GBP whether one of you travels or six.

Empty leg prices by aircraft class

The class of aircraft is the largest single factor in any price. On an empty leg you do not choose it: the operator is moving a particular aircraft and you either take it or wait for another. That is often to your advantage, because a repositioning heavy jet on a short sector can cost less than a light jet booked normally.

All figures in pounds for the whole aircraft. The per person column assumes a full cabin, which is the fairest way to compare a charter with an airline ticket and the reason empty legs suit groups far better than couples.

Why the price moves so much: timing

The single most reliable pattern in this market is that discounts deepen as the departure approaches. An operator with an unsold sector three weeks out still has options. The same operator the day before departure has none, and prices accordingly.

There is a catch worth stating plainly. The cheapest sectors are the ones nobody else wanted, at times nobody else could use. If your dates are fixed, waiting for the last 48 hours is a gamble rather than a strategy, and a standard charter booked in advance will cost less than a missed meeting.

Season and event weeks

The second big lever is the calendar. Empty legs run against the traffic, so the discount depends on which way the aircraft are flowing that month.

Standard charter: hourly rates

When the dates are yours rather than the operator's, charter is priced per flight hour. These are the bands we work with in 2026 from British airports. A quote for one sector also carries the operator's positioning and airport costs, and most operators bill a daily minimum of around two flight hours, so London to Paris in a Citation CJ2 at 3,300 GBP an hour comes to about 6,300 GBP rather than the 3,600 GBP its hour in the air would suggest.

What is inside the price, and what is not

Two taxes affect a British departure. Air Passenger Duty is charged per passenger, and from April 2027 the higher rate extends to every business aircraft of 5.7 tonnes or more, which covers most of the midsize fleet. VAT is zero rated on international sectors but applies at 20 per cent to a domestic flight on an aircraft with fewer than ten seats. A charter is priced per aircraft while an airline sells a seat, so the honest comparison is cost per head. Choose a route and the size of your party below and the arithmetic works itself out, including how it stands against a flexible business class fare on the same day.

Unconfirmed flights: sectors we expect to fly

Our schedule is a moving thing. Aircraft are booked, released and rebooked through the day, and a repositioning sector often exists on paper long before the operator is ready to sell it. The list below is that middle stage: movements we expect to fly on the dates shown, which have not yet been confirmed as bookable empty legs.

Each line carries a date because the movement it comes from has one. What it does not carry is certainty. On our own record, between half and six in ten of these sectors are confirmed and released. The rest shift by a day or two, get taken privately, or fall away when the charter behind them changes.
