Tallinn is the capital of Estonia and the base of Bolt, of the NATO cyber defence centre and of the EU agency that runs the Schengen border databases, in the country whose engineers wrote Skype. Private flights from Britain bring investors to its technology firms, officials and defence contractors to meetings, and families and friends to the medieval Old Town, the Christmas market and the long white nights of June. The flight covers about 1,800 kilometres, which a light or midsize jet flies nonstop in just under three hours, and on landing the clock moves two hours ahead.
Private aircraft use Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport, code TLL, on the shore of Lake Ülemiste about four to five kilometres south east of the centre. It works around the clock, border guards and customs officers are on duty at any hour, and its FBO complex at the southern end of the passenger terminal gives private passengers their own check in, security and passport control, so the Old Town can be reached within about half an hour of the engines stopping.

Tallinn sectors available today
The list below shows every sector we hold into or out of Tallinn. When Tallinn is quiet, it adds flights at Helsinki, Riga and Tartu, the three airports that can be reached from Tallinn by ferry, road or a short flight. A second table then prices the same aircraft as an ordinary charter between Britain and Tallinn on the dates you choose, which shows at once what a released sector saves.
Ask us what is available at Tallinn right now.
This board refreshes through the day as operators release sectors, and it shows only part of the market: a large share of repositioning flights never reach a public list at all. Check back shortly, or tell us your route and dates and we will look at what operators are holding at this moment.

Both columns assume an aircraft already at the departure airport, so no positioning flight is billed. Where an operator has to fly one in to collect you, a charter can run considerably higher than the figure shown. Prices also run in both directions: an empty leg exists only when an operator is moving that aircraft anyway, so the sector you want may run the other way this month. Tell us the route and we will watch both directions for you.
Set up an alert for Tallinn
Most empty legs are gone within hours of being released, and a good number are never published at all. Tell us the route and the window you can travel in, and we will message you the moment a matching sector comes up between the UK and Tallinn.
Please fill in both the departure and the arrival city.
Nothing is stored on this site. The button opens a chat with the message already written, and you send it yourself. We reply during office hours, 07:00 to 23:00, and check messages outside them too.
Why jets fly empty between Britain and Tallinn
Nearly three hours each way means an operator can fly to Tallinn and back within one crew day, so after a drop the aircraft usually heads home rather than waiting in Estonia for a stay of several nights. Five features of the city keep those sectors coming.
Technology and investment
Bolt, the large Tallinn office of Wise, a crowd of funded startups and the Latitude59 conference each May bring founders, investors and advisers for short, tightly planned visits. The jet that brings a board in on Monday morning often flies home the same afternoon and comes back for the return.
Defence and government
The United Kingdom leads NATO's forward land forces in Estonia, based at Tapa, about an hour's drive east of Tallinn, and the city hosts the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence and the EU agency for the Schengen border databases. Officials, contractors and delegations fly in for a day or two, rarely long enough to keep an aircraft on the ground.
Two capitals in one trip
Helsinki lies about 80 kilometres north across the Gulf of Finland, about two hours away on the fastest ferries. Clients often land in one city and leave from the other, so the aircraft repositions across the water empty or flies home and returns later for the pick up.
Short breaks in the Old Town
The medieval Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997, the Christmas market on Town Hall Square and the spa hotels fill weekends from Friday to Sunday. A jet that drops a party on Friday evening seldom stays until Sunday, which releases a sector on each of those days.
Summer on the Baltic
From Midsummer to August, families fly in for the islands of Saaremaa and Hiiumaa, the resort of Pärnu and the yacht harbours of Pirita and Noblessner, and the aircraft that brought them flies back to Britain without passengers.
Sectors appear all year, most of all in June and July, in late November and December and around the May conference week. Operators usually publish a Tallinn sector a few days before it flies, as soon as the next job for the aircraft is fixed, so a flexible date gives the best chance of a match.
Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport in detail
The airport on the edge of Lake Ülemiste officially opened on 20 September 1936, and its first proper terminal, a building in the Stalinist style, came into service in 1955. A new terminal followed in 1980 for the Olympic sailing regatta held at Pirita, the building was modernised in 1999 and greatly enlarged in 2008, and in March 2009 the airport took the name of Lennart Meri, the writer and film maker who led Estonia as president from 1992 to 2001. The runway was lengthened to 3,480 metres in November 2016, trams have reached the terminal since September 2017, and in 2025 the airport handled about 3.49 million passengers on 51 regular routes.

For a crew Tallinn is a simple airport: a long runway, precision approaches in both directions, fuel and customs around the clock and no night curfew. The planning goes into three things instead: the compulsory handling, the non Schengen arrival for flights from Britain and, from November to March, snow and de icing. A terminal expansion, to be built mainly from 2027 to 2029, will enlarge the non Schengen area and raise capacity to about five million passengers a year.
Handling, borders and winter at Tallinn
A flight from Britain to Tallinn is planned around handling, the Schengen border and the weather, and our team settles each of them at booking and reviews them once more on the eve of the flight.
Handling is compulsory
Every flight at Tallinn uses Tallinn Airport GH, the airport's own handling company. Its Executive Aviation team offers two packages: Elite, which takes passengers through the FBO complex and its VIP lounge, and Standard, which takes them through the main terminal. For a light or midsize jet of 5.1 to 16 tonnes the handling costs 495 euros on Elite and 345 euros on Standard, excluding VAT and, on Elite, the lounge fee, and the operator includes it in the price.
A border at any hour
Estonia is in Schengen and Britain is not, so every flight from the UK crosses the external border. Border guards and customs officers work around the clock, and on the Elite package they check passports and bags inside the FBO complex rather than in the non Schengen hall of the main terminal.
Snow and de icing
Winters in Tallinn bring snow and frost from November to March. The runway is cleared and the airport keeps working, but a jet parked overnight usually needs de icing before take off. For a business jet the handler charges 250 or 360 euros a call, depending on the wingspan, plus the fluid used, and the treatment adds time to the departure.
Night flights cost more at Tallinn, though they are not restricted. Handling ordered for the hours from 22:00 to 06:00 or for an Estonian public holiday is billed at twice the day rate, and the FBO adds half again to its VIP service. For a business jet these sums are small next to the price of the aircraft, and an operator includes them in a quote for a late arrival or an early departure.
The FBO complex, VIP services, lounge and restaurants
At Tallinn a private passenger does not have to queue in the main terminal. The FBO complex, called FBO Tallinn, sits at the southern end of the passenger building with its own entrance and parking, and a car takes passengers between its door and the aircraft steps, so check in, screening, passports and customs are all done in a few rooms with nobody else in line.
FBO Tallinn
The complex belongs to the airport and serves private and charter flights on arrival and departure, and Tallinn Airport GH takes private passengers through it on its Elite package. The handler describes the Elite route through it as similar to a classical FBO: passengers are escorted through the VIP lounge and can rest there privately before and after the flight, away from the public halls. Cars reach it from the roundabout at the airport's main entrance.
What the Executive Aviation team arranges
Service is available 24 hours a day. Besides handling the aircraft, the team arranges customs and immigration, catering, fuel, hotels and restaurant tables, limousines and hire cars, and the crew's flight plan and weather briefing, and it drives the crew across the apron twice during the stay.
The VIP service
For a traveller who flies one way by airline, the airport sells a VIP service through the same complex, renewed in early 2026, at 186 euros per person each way, VAT included. It covers up to two hours in the FBO lounge, private check in and security, private border and customs checks, a car to and from the aircraft, drinks and snacks, and free VIP parking for one car for up to a week.
Extras to add when booking
The VIP booking form lets you add a porter, a wheelchair, help with the VAT refund on your shopping and the carriage of a pet, and any firearms carried have to be declared on it in advance. The FBO team can also order catering, reserve a hotel or a restaurant table and arrange a hire car.
Baggage through the FBO
Private passengers skip the bag drop and the carousel. On departure your cases are checked in and screened inside the complex and then driven to the aircraft; on arrival the handlers bring them from the hold to the complex for customs and on to your car. A porter can be booked for heavy luggage.
Conditions of the VIP service
Book at least 24 hours ahead, on weekdays between 09:00 and 17:00. Night service and public holidays carry a supplement of half the price. A booking cancelled 24 hours or more ahead is refunded in full, one cancelled 12 to 23 hours ahead is half refunded, and later cancellations are not refunded; if the airline is delayed, the lounge time is extended free of charge. Departing guests are asked to reach the complex an hour and a half before an airline flight, and the terms set one hour as the minimum.
The VIP Demarcated Area
For a larger group, a delegation or a charter airliner, the FBO complex can set aside a demarcated area with the Järve Room, where coffee, tea and water are served. It costs 1,049 euros for up to ten passengers, 85 euros for each extra passenger and 70 euros per passenger for groups of 30 or more, with 50 per cent more at night and on holidays, and it has to be ordered at least 48 hours ahead. Escorts and people meeting the flight can wait in the open part of the Järve Room without going through security.
The Airport Lounge
Airline passengers have the Airport Lounge on the second floor, airside in the Schengen area. Redesigned by KAMP Arhitektid and reopened in April 2024, it is finished in Estonian timber, lime plaster and limestone, holds up to 200 guests and looks out over the apron. It opens from 04:30 to 22:00 for stays of up to three hours, and entry costs 45 euros for adults and 22 euros for children aged 2 to 12.
Inside the lounge
The price covers snacks, soft drinks, wine, beer on tap and spirits, with a hot lunch served from 12:00 to 17:00. There are showers, a meeting room, work areas, a children's corner and an outdoor terrace. Priority Pass, DragonPass and LoungeKey members are admitted on preferential terms, and business class passengers of airBaltic, Finnair, LOT, Lufthansa, SAS, SWISS and Turkish Airlines enter free.
Eating in the public hall
Before security, Kohver Kitchen in the departure hall serves Estonian dishes, an international lunch menu and carefully made coffee from 08:00 to 19:00, which suits a meeting at the airport or a meal while waiting for a delayed guest.
Eating after security
Airline passengers in the Schengen area have more choice: the Põhjala Deli for salads and lunch, the Aviation Pub Legend for beer and light meals, and the Rosin Wine Bar, which sells wine by the glass or the bottle. Cafés open early for the morning departures.
Flying home by airline
Flights to Britain leave from the non Schengen gates at the end of the terminal, beyond the passport check. There the Take Off Two café serves sandwiches, salads, pastries and coffee, and a separate duty free shop opens for the departures.
Estonian gifts
Goods of Estonia, opposite gate 2, sells black rye bread, sprats, sausage and honey, and a souvenir shop stocks Estonian handicrafts. Both are in the Schengen departure area, which a private flight to Britain does not pass through, so gifts for the trip home are easier to buy in the city.
Money and practical needs
Currency can be exchanged in the arrivals area from 10:00 to 22:00 and airside near gate 3 from 05:00 to 18:00, and a pharmacy airside opens from 04:00 to 20:00. Wireless internet is free throughout the terminal, and lockers on the ground floor take bags of every size for 2 to 9.50 euros a day. Estonia has used the euro since 2011, and paying by card or phone is normal in taxis, cafés and shops across Tallinn.
A hotel beside the terminal
Mercure Tallinn, a four star hotel at Lennujaama tee 2, stands a short walk from the terminal, with 132 rooms, the Le Lac restaurant, a sauna and free parking. It suits a crew rest, an early departure or a meeting that does not need a drive into town.
Help with the steps
Passengers who need a wheelchair or help on the aircraft stairs should mention it in the first message, because it shapes our choice of aircraft and lets Tallinn Airport GH have assistance waiting at the FBO complex.

From the aircraft to your car at Tallinn, step by step
On the Elite package everything happens in the FBO complex, and on arrival getting from the aircraft door to the car usually takes about a quarter of an hour.
ON ARRIVAL
Met at the stairs
Once the aircraft has parked, the handling team meets you at the foot of the stairs and drives you and your luggage to the FBO complex.
PASSPORTS
Estonian border guards
Arriving from Britain, every traveller shows a passport to the Police and Border Guard Board. On a first visit the Entry/Exit System records a photograph and, for anyone aged twelve or older, four fingerprints.
CUSTOMS
A few steps further
The Estonian Tax and Customs Board clears passengers and luggage inside the complex; declarations for goods over the allowance and a pet's health certificate are handed over there by the handler.
LUGGAGE
From hold to boot
The ramp team unloads the hold as soon as the engines stop, so the cases reach the customs desk about when you do; on the way home they are loaded only after screening, so arrive with everything packed. Mention skis, golf clubs or oversized cases when booking, since a light jet such as a CJ3 has limited room in the hold.
SECURITY
A private scanner
Departing passengers and their hand luggage pass security inside the FBO complex, away from the airline queues in the main hall.
WAITING
Coffee in the FBO
A short wait is spent in the lounge of the FBO complex, with coffee and snacks; for a longer one, a hotel or a restaurant in the Old Town is fifteen minutes away.
CATERING
Ordered in advance
The handling team orders meals for the flight, from Estonian smoked fish and black bread to a menu of your own, and the order is best placed the day before, especially for an early morning departure.
THE CAR
Waiting outside
Your chauffeur or hire car pulls up at the entrance of the complex, booked in advance through the handler. A taxi or a ride hailing car covers the drive to the Old Town in 10 to 15 minutes.
DEPARTURE
An hour before take off
On the way home, arriving at the FBO complex about an hour before take off leaves time for check in, the exit passport check, screening and, in winter, de icing of the aircraft.
LATE FLIGHTS
Possible at any hour
The airport and the border work around the clock, so a flight after dinner or before dawn is simply a matter of booking, with night surcharges on the handling and on any VIP service.
TAX FREE
Validate the forms
Shopping in the Old Town or the Rotermann Quarter can be tax free for a traveller living outside the EU. Customs must confirm the refund forms at departure, with the purchases unused and in your bags, so let the handler know a day ahead.
ONE WAY BY AIRLINE
Through FBO Tallinn
If one direction is an airline flight, the VIP service takes you through the FBO complex and out to the aircraft by car, and the Airport Lounge serves travellers who prefer the ordinary route.
We confirm the handling package, the arrival time, any VIP service and the chauffeur when the aircraft is booked, so nothing is left to arrange on the day.
Five points to settle before a Tallinn trip
Tallinn lies almost three hours from Britain and roughly level with Orkney, and these five questions are answered in our first quote.
Two hours ahead
Estonia keeps Eastern European time, two hours ahead of the UK all year. A departure from Britain at 08:00 lands in Tallinn around 12:50 local time, while an evening flight home gains the two hours back.
An aircraft for three hours
At close to three hours in the air, cabin size matters. A Citation CJ3 or a Phenom 300 keeps the price down and seats five or six passengers in comfort, a midsize Citation XLS+ or Latitude gives more headroom and a larger washroom, and a Challenger 350 or Praetor 600 suits a bigger party.
Winter light and weather
In December Tallinn has about six hours of daylight and snow is common. Allow time for de icing on the morning departure and plan the ground schedule with the early darkness in mind.
Tallinn or Helsinki
For a trip that covers both capitals, the aircraft can land in one and leave from the other while you cross by ferry. We compare the cost of repositioning the jet with the cost of flying it home and back, and quote the cheaper.
Big weekends
Midsummer, the Christmas market weekends and the Black Nights Film Festival fill the Old Town hotels, so the best rooms and the aircraft should be reserved at the same time, weeks rather than days ahead.
From the airport to Tallinn and the rest of Estonia
The airport lies on the city's edge, and most addresses in Tallinn are within twenty minutes by car. The times assume a chauffeured car outside the rush hour; morning and evening traffic around Ülemiste and festival weekends can stretch them.

What a Tallinn trip adds to the bill
Estonia adds little to the cost of a private trip. Air Passenger Duty is due when you leave Britain, the airport's passenger and security charges are part of the operator's price, and there is no Estonian departure tax and no tourist tax in Tallinn.
UK duty
Air Passenger Duty on the flight out of Britain, Band A, for aircraft of 5.7 tonnes or more
Estonian departure tax
none; the airport charges 10.50 euros per departing passenger plus a security charge of 2.87 euros, both inside the operator's price
Hotels in Tallinn
no city tourist tax, and VAT on accommodation of 13 per cent, already inside the room price
Airport and handling
landing, parking, handling and any de icing, all inside the operator's quote
Air Passenger Duty applies only to the flight that leaves the UK, and Estonia falls in Band A. For 2026 to 2027 private jets of 5.7 to 20 tonnes pay 32 GBP per passenger and heavier ones 142 GBP; on 1 April 2027 a single private jet rate of 146.63 GBP takes over from both. Aircraft under 5.7 tonnes, such as the Pilatus PC-12, pay nothing, flights from Jersey and Guernsey are outside the duty, and from April 2027 departures from Scotland pay the Scottish Air Departure Tax instead, with a Scottish levy on private jets planned from April 2028.
Estonia charges no tax of its own on air passengers, so the flight home from Tallinn carries no Estonian tax, only the airport's passenger and security charges, which the operator pays and includes in its price. In the city, the standard rate of VAT has been 24 per cent since 1 July 2025 and hotels charge 13 per cent, and unlike Amsterdam or Paris, Tallinn has no tax on overnight stays.

Helsinki, Riga, Tartu and the other airports around Tallinn
Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport is the right choice for almost every private trip to the Estonian capital, but several other airports serve a trip that continues to the islands, the south of the country or the neighbouring capitals.
Tallinn, EETN. The capital's airport, with a runway of 3,480 metres, the FBO complex and border control at any hour.
Helsinki, EFHK. Helsinki Airport, about 100 kilometres to the north across the Gulf of Finland, useful when a trip combines the two capitals and as an alternate for Tallinn.
Tartu, EETU. About 160 kilometres to the south east, the airport of Estonia's university city, with a runway of 1,799 metres for light and midsize jets.
Pärnu, EEPU. Some 110 kilometres south, on the edge of Estonia's summer capital; land here for the beach, the spa hotels and the summer festivals.
Kuressaare, EEKE. About 190 kilometres to the south west on the island of Saaremaa, for holidays among its windmills, manors and juniper coast.
Riga, EVRA. About 280 kilometres to the south, the capital of Latvia and the home base of airBaltic.
Popular routes between the UK and Tallinn, and which way they run empty
Each price buys the entire aircraft on a positioning flight, however many seats you take, and each time is flight time only. At about 1,800 kilometres from London, Tallinn is within the nonstop range of every type we quote, from a Citation CJ3 for Leeds, Aberdeen or Liverpool to a Challenger 350 for a larger party from Farnborough or a Praetor 600 for Dublin. If your dates cannot move, set these figures against our Tallinn charter prices.

The working week and the seasons shape the pattern: business sectors towards Britain cluster on Monday and Tuesday after the drops, and those towards Tallinn on Thursday and Friday before the collections, while summer holidays and Christmas weekends follow the Friday to Sunday rhythm. Jets that finish a trip in Helsinki add short hops across the Gulf of Finland, which can be combined with a flight home from Tallinn.
Online calculator
If you want to see what your route would cost as a standard charter, so you have something to measure an empty leg against, use the calculator below. Fill in the airports, the dates and the number of passengers, add any preference on aircraft type, and we will send a written calculation by email or messenger. Please check your contact details carefully so that we can reply quickly.
The figure the calculator returns is an estimate for planning. The firm quote comes back from our consultants with the cost broken out line by line, and the price agreed there is the price written into the contract.
If you would rather skip the arithmetic, send us the route and the dates instead and a consultant will come back with both numbers, the charter price and any empty leg that fits.
Entering Estonia at Tallinn: passports, customs and tax free
For Schengen purposes a jet from Britain arrives from outside, since Estonia is inside the Schengen area and the UK is outside it, so passports are checked by the Police and Border Guard Board and bags by the Estonian Tax and Customs Board.
Passport. Two dates on it matter at the Estonian border: an issue date less than ten years before your arrival, and an expiry date no sooner than three months after the day you intend to leave Schengen. Border guards can turn away a passport that misses either.
Schengen days. Visa free stays are limited to 90 days within any 180, counted across all Schengen members together, so a week in Tallinn and a week in Helsinki use up fourteen of them.
Entry/Exit System. Since April 2026 the border records every entry and exit digitally in place of passport stamps; at the first crossing it takes a photograph and, from the age of twelve, four fingerprints.
ETIAS. Not needed for now. In July 2026 the EU pushed its start back to 2027 without naming a day; once it begins, every traveller entering without a visa will need this authorisation, which lasts three years and costs 20 euros for applicants aged 18 to 70.
Customs. The duty free limits for an adult flying in from the UK are 4 litres of still wine, 16 litres of beer, either 1 litre of spirits or 2 litres of drinks of no more than 22 per cent, 200 cigarettes and other goods to a value of 430 euros, and any cash of 10,000 euros or more has to be declared on arrival.
Food. EU rules do not allow travellers from Britain to bring in meat or dairy products, so sandwiches with ham or cheese stay on the aircraft.
Tax free. A visitor who lives outside the EU can reclaim Estonian VAT on goods taken home, once customs have confirmed the export forms before departure.
Coming home. After a private flight into the UK each adult can bring in 42 litres of beer, 18 litres of wine, 200 cigarettes and goods worth up to 270 GBP without duty, plus 4 litres of spirits or 9 litres of fortified wine; from 1 October 2026 sparkling wine counts within the wine allowance and cider within the beer, and a few bottles of Vana Tallinn liqueur fit easily within the spirits.
Empty leg calendar for Tallinn, month by month

Empty legs the usual number of Tallinn sectors released on our list
January
QuietFair
The Christmas market on Town Hall Square stays open into the first week of January, and aircraft sent to collect New Year parties often fly out to Tallinn empty in the first days of the month.
February
QuietThin
Independence Day on 24 February brings a parade and concerts, but otherwise the city is at its calmest, with snow and short days.
March
SteadyFair
The days lengthen quickly and business travel picks up; Easter Sunday falls on 28 March 2027.

Latitude59, the startup and investor conference, meets at Kultuurikatel from 19 to 21 May 2027, and the outdoor season begins.
June
Very busyStrong
The white nights bring more than 18 hours of daylight, and Victory Day on 23 June and Midsummer Day on 24 June, both public holidays, are celebrated with bonfires across the country.
July
Very busyStrong
Tallinn Maritime Days take over the harbours in July, and families head for the islands and Pärnu, so aircraft fly in full and home empty.
August
BusyGood
The Day of Restoration of Independence on 20 August is a public holiday, and in the second half of the month families start to head home.
September
SteadyFair
Offices fill again after the Estonian summer, and weekday trips for investors, officials and engineers pick up through the month.
October
SteadyFair
A calm autumn month for business trips, with good availability of aircraft and hotels.
November
BusyGood
The Black Nights Film Festival holds its 30th edition from 6 to 22 November 2026, and the Christmas market opens on Town Hall Square on 20 November.
December
BusyGood
The Christmas market, concerts and New Year weekends bring short stays, and each drop in Tallinn can release a sector home.
The richest months for empty legs are June and July, when the white nights and the summer holidays move the most aircraft. For fixed dates with easy availability of aircraft and hotels, January and February are the calmest.

Three situations, three answers
A day of meetings in Tallinn
With wheels up at Farnborough at 07:00, the jet reaches Tallinn around 11:55 Estonian time, and the first meeting in the Old Town or Ülemiste City can start soon after noon. A departure at 18:00 Estonian time puts you back in Hampshire at about 18:55. An empty leg rarely matches both directions on one day, so we usually combine a released sector for one flight with a charter for the other.
Tallinn and Helsinki together
Land in Tallinn, spend two days in the city and take the ferry to Helsinki, while the jet either follows empty across the gulf or flies home and returns to collect you at Helsinki. We price both and check the list for sectors that fit either leg.
A Midsummer or Christmas weekend
Fly in on Friday for Midsummer or the Christmas market and home on Sunday. The jet usually leaves after the drop and comes back for you, so the empty flight back to Britain on Friday and the empty flight out to Tallinn on Sunday may both appear on our list.
Flying to Tallinn with a dog or a cat
Pets flying in from Britain are covered by the common EU rules, which Estonia applies without additions. A dog, cat or ferret must be microchipped, vaccinated against rabies no less than 21 days before the journey and carry an animal health certificate issued by an official vet within the ten days before it lands. British pet passports stopped being valid in the EU after Brexit, and since 22 April 2026 an EU pet passport is no longer accepted for an animal that lives in Great Britain, so a new certificate is needed for each trip. There is no tapeworm or blood test requirement for Estonia, the limit of five pets has applied per private vehicle rather than per person since April 2026, and the papers are checked by customs in the FBO complex.
The return journey is stricter: only an operator approved by the British authorities may bring the animal into the UK, and a dog must be treated for tapeworm by a vet 24 to 120 hours before landing, with the treatment recorded in its documents. A vet in Tallinn can give and record the treatment during your stay, and telling us about the animal at the start means we only put forward operators allowed to carry it.

Questions about private flights to Tallinn
Where does a private jet land in Tallinn?
Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport, four to five kilometres from the centre, with an FBO complex for private passengers and border control at any hour. For a trip that continues to the islands or the south of Estonia, Kuressaare, Pärnu and Tartu take business aircraft as well.
How long is the flight to Tallinn?
About 2h 35m from Aberdeen, 2h 40m from Newcastle, 2h 45m from Leeds and Edinburgh, 2h 50m from London, Biggin Hill, Manchester and Glasgow, 2h 55m from Farnborough, Oxford, Birmingham and Liverpool, 3h 00m from Southampton, 3h 05m from Bristol, Belfast and Cardiff, 3h 10m from Dublin and 3h 15m from Jersey.
Can I land in Tallinn at night?
Yes. The airport, the border guards and customs work around the clock and there is no night curfew. Between 22:00 and 06:00 the handling charge doubles and the VIP service costs 50 per cent more, and the operator includes both in the quote.
Is there a private terminal at Tallinn?
Yes, the FBO complex at the southern end of the passenger terminal, with private check in, security, passport and customs control and a VIP lounge. Airline passengers can use it through the VIP service at 186 euros per person each way, VAT included.
What does an empty leg to Tallinn cost?
Our table starts at about 5,700 GBP for Tallinn to Aberdeen and about 6,000 GBP for Tallinn to Leeds, both in a Citation CJ3 and for the whole aircraft. Chartering the same types on dates you choose costs from 13,500 GBP to 28,800 GBP, depending on the route and the aircraft.
Does Estonia tax the flight home?
No. There is no Estonian tax on the return; the only per passenger items are the airport's own charges, which sit inside the quote, while British Air Passenger Duty applies to the flight out.
Do winter flights to Tallinn run normally?
Yes. The airport keeps its runway open through snow, and the main effect on a private flight is de icing before departure, which adds time, a call out charge of 250 or 360 euros for a business jet and the cost of the fluid.
Is a visa needed for Tallinn?
No. Visits of up to 90 days in any 180 across Estonia and the other Schengen states need no visa for British citizens. Expect fingerprints and a photograph at the first crossing under the Entry/Exit System; ETIAS has not started.
And if nothing is released for my dates?
Give us a window of dates rather than a single day, the head count and the UK airport that suits you. Baltic sectors are often released only days before they fly, so until one fits we hold a charter quote with the handling confirmed.
Call +44 7857 574938 , message the same number on WhatsApp , or write to flight@empty-leg.co.uk . Tell us the dates, the size of the party, any skis, golf bags or large cases and whether the trip includes Helsinki or the islands. We reply with the empty legs that match and a charter figure beside them, and after you decide, the aircraft, the Tallinn handling, the FBO lounge and the chauffeur are all confirmed in a single booking.
