Henry Richter

Henry heads the aviation department and has eleven years in the industry. His job is the one clients rarely think to ask about: deciding which operators we are prepared to put people on, and refusing the ones we are not.

A broker does not own aircraft. Every flight we sell is flown by somebody else, which means the only thing standing between a client and a badly run operation is whoever checks the operator first. At this company that is Henry. He works in English, German, Spanish and Russian, which covers most of the operators flying the Alpine and Iberian routes our clients use.

What Henry handles

Approving the operators we work with, and reviewing the ones already on the list
Checking the air operator certificate, the insurance cover and the audit position before a flight is offered
Aircraft and crew suitability for a particular trip, including short runways, high airfields and heavy loads
Training the consultants, so that the person answering your enquiry knows what the aircraft will and will not do
What happens when a flight goes wrong on the day: a technical problem, a diversion, weather that closes an airport
Corporate tenders and framework agreements, where travel is bought for a year rather than a trip
Restructuring a travel programme to cost less without flying anything smaller than it should

Why this matters on an empty leg

An empty leg is somebody else's aircraft on somebody else's schedule, which is exactly why the operator behind it is worth knowing about. A sector that looks unusually cheap is sometimes just a repositioning flight, and sometimes it is an operator we would not use. We check before it reaches our board rather than after you have asked about it.
